Job Change and WordCamping

I haven’t blogged a whole lot and haven’t had the chance to provide many updates. The past few months have been a complete whirlwind, and I haven’t had much time to take a moment and just breathe.

I had a recent job change where I had an opportunity to accept a position at 10up as a Senior Web Strategist! I am extremely excited to be working with the 10up team. I’ve started working at 10up a few weeks ago, and it is blowing my mind how sharp the entire team is. The accounts team I work on is very close knit, and deeply supportive in helping me ramp up. Hopefully I won’t annoy them too much. 😉

For those of you who have heard my ranting and ravings about WordPress support over the years, I’ve always wished I could be in the position of sitting in the same room with folks during the initial phase of building a WordPress site. Being in a support role across three different WordPress companies, I didn’t get to talk to WordPress customers until they’ve made the implementation decisions – sometimes bad ones, and it was difficult to entangle many issues.  Now I finally have that opportunity!

The work has already been blowing my mind. The conversations I have with business owners about using WordPress are deeply educational, and I am grateful for the exposure. 10up’s clients all have different stories, and different challenges. It amazes me how well the various teams at 10up adapt themselves to each project, accommodating every need the client has, and answering every challenge that crops up. 10up really goes out of their way to immerse themselves in the inner workings of every company we work with, which creates a deep bond of trust between 10up and the client.

I am also excited to be going to WordCamp Philly, where I will put on my “support hat,” and talk about how to NOT blow up your site……

…Yeah I know…do as I say, not as I do. 😉  I have worked in a support capacity for over 15 years, and I have done a fair bit of damage across the internet.

So if you are planning on showing up to WordCamp Philly, come say hello! I’m the nerdy looking guy with the bald head, wearing a 10up shirt.

WordCamp San Antonio and WordCamp Philly!

Yeah Yeah, I know…..I haven’t blogged in a while…but I have news! I will be speaking at two WordCamps (thus far)!

First, I am the keynote speaker for WordCamp San Antonio. I am honored to have the opportunity to speak at this event. It was a ton of fun last year, and I strongly recommend checking it out. The venue is awesome, and the people were amazing.

San Antonio was a town I used to live in during my High School days. My memories from back then are a mixed bag, but I had the opportunity to spend more time in San Antonio for the past two years. The city has certainly changed!

It is an amazing city, with a lot of great food (TACOS!), very friendly people, and a lot of great things to do. WordCamp San Antonio happens on September 30th, and October 1st.

I am proud to note that several members from Pressable are participating with the organization of this event. The team has a strong sense of responsibility to the WordPress Community, and we feel we have the responsibility in giving back by spending their free time organizing this great event.

Second, I will be a speaker at WordCamp Philly! I have always loved WordCamp-ing in Philly. WordCamp US happened there for the past two years, and I went to the local WordCamp Philly the year before that. Some of my favorite people in the world live in Philly, and they always participate in the local WordCamp, so I can’t wait to see them. The Philly WordCamp speaker lineup is very impressive, and I suspect this event will be a “must-see” for those in the area. It will be on October 28th and 29th. I highly recommend checking WordCamp Philly out.

WordCamp San Antonio Speaker Panel

I was a part of the speaker panel at the end of WordCamp San Antonio, which was pretty cool! There’s a lot of really amazing WordPress folks in San Antonio and it was cool to share the stage with these fine folks. I don’t talk a whole lot but I share the stage with my fellow colleagues Zach and Claudia from Pressable, as well as notable speakers. It was a lot of fun!

Video comes from which has a ton of great WordCamp talks. I highly recommend it for folks learning WordPress.

Last #BurritoFriday of 2016

Today is the last Burrito Friday of 2016. In my opinion, this is one of the most important burrito days of the year. Make it a good one!

If you haven’t already seen my instagram account, you know that I love food, especially Mexican food. I post food pictures all the time. If you are into that sort of thing, please follow me.

Today I plan to go to one of my favorite burrito places and eat a cow tounge burrito. It’s going to be amazing. It isn’t a Mission Burrito, but I am far away from San Francisco.

FYI if you need burrito receipes, I recommend checking this “” article on the best burrito recipes. The mission burrito recipe on that article is pretty solid.
